June 2008 It’s done! We’ve finished writing our new Temecula Winery Guidebook. The Grape Escapes 2 – Temecula Wineries and Tasting Rooms is finally at our publisher! In late January 2008, we visited over 40 wineries and tasted / compared over 250 Temecula area wines and tasting room facilities and activities. We know, tough job, but someone has to do it. We basically worked non-stop pounding our keyboards and double- checking facts and information in February, March, and April. We have received the first draft (to edit) from our publisher and the book should be sent to the printer in June. We hope to have it available through our website and on Temecula winery and bookstore shelves in July!! We are excited about our upcoming book and even more excited with all the fun and interesting things going on in Temecula Wine Country. There are now over 40 wineries and more new wineries and tasting rooms are in the planning and building stages. Plus, existing wineries are adding more and more exciting festivals, top-notch entertainment activities, and expanding/upgrading their dining and shopping areas. In addition, some of the wineries will be adding inns or resort-style lodging to their properties in the near future. As a result, Temecula is quickly becoming a “destination” locale in its own right - anything and everything you would want to do on vacation or a weekend get-away is available in Wine Country, Old Town Temecula, and the Temecula area. NOTE: For information on this summer’s festivals and entertainment, winery activities, and recreational opportunities, check out the following websites for dates and details on summer and winery festivals and activities: www.temeculacvb.org, www.temeculacalifornia.org and www.temeculawines.org We received great support from the Temecula wine community. In fact, over 15 wineries and merchants are offering Grape Escapes Discounts and Special Promotions. (Show your copy of our guidebook and receive free tastings or discounts on wine and merchandise.) This will enable folks to save some serious money during their wine tasting excursions. In fact, if you visit just three of our participating wineries, the discounts you receive will pay for the book. Cool, huh? NOTE: Click on the Temecula Links, Discounts & Promotions button on the left side of our website pages to see the list of wineries and merchants and the discounts they offer when you present a copy of our guidebook. How about a “Sneak Peak” at the new guidebook? Fair enough. If you are a Sangio fan, we recommend you visit the Tesoro Winery Tasting Room located in Old Town Temecula. They have a Super Tuscan-style wine called Trinità and a Sangiovese that will simply knock your socks off. Go see Kimberly Olson and tell her Bob & Cindy said hi. Feel like a short “Road Trip?” Another of our great discoveries is Orfila Vineyards and Winery which is located 40 minutes south of Temecula in Escondido. (Thanks to “Wine Diva” Lisa Osslund for introducing us to their wonderful wines.) Orfila is one of our “heavy medal” winning wineries and boasts many ribbons from US and International Wine Competitions. If you cannot get to Temecula Wine Country for some great wine tasting experiences, our new-found friend, Le Roy Guilford of www.ShopTemeculaWines.com, will see that Temecula wines come to you! He carries wines from all of the local tasting rooms and many bottles from wineries that do not offer wine tasting. You can browse his wine on line at www.ShopTemeculaWines.com. Due to his special arrangements with the local wineries, Le Roy offers many of his wines at discounted prices. Give Le Roy a call, tell him what you like, and he will make recommendations and put together a personalized wine shipment for you. You can contact Le Roy by phone at 1-888-460-9463 or use handy electronic comment form on the ShopTemeculaWines.com website. Hint: If you are a red-wine lover, make sure you order the Atwood Syrah And perhaps a few bottles of the Santa Maria Merlot-Cab. They are wonderful!
